Media Resources: Circulation Policies

Describes the media collection at Walker library.

Who Can Borrow?

Media Borrowing privileges are extended to users presenting a valid MTSU ID card.

A valid ID must be presented each time material is checked out.

Materials may be checked out at the Circulation Desk on the first floor of Walker LIbrary.

Lost/ Damaged Costs, Fees, and Policies for Media

1.  All media materials not returned within 21 days after their due date are considered lost.  The patron will be assessed the cost of replacement plus a $20.00 processing charge.

Replacement charges are determined by the prevailing market cost of a lost item.  Cost determinations are made by Walker Library Collection Development and Management personnel.

Library borrowing privileges are blocked until the item is returned and/ or required payments made.

2.  If  the media material is damaged beyond use, you will be required to pay the replacement cost plus a $20.00 processing charge.

The processing charge covers the cost of researching, purchasing and processing a new copy.

3.  All library charges must be paid online. Payments may not be made in person. No exceptions.

4.  Following University policy, a block will be placed on students records by the Library if $200.00 or more is owed in library charges.

This will block grades, transcript requests, and similar transactions.

Student records are cleared within 1 - 2 business days after payment is received.
